Sassanach (sass eh nak) is a Duluth, MN group playing mostly traditional Scottish, Irish, and Newfoundland songs. An occasional somber ballad provides relief to the steady stream of drinking songs, fighting songs, and bawdy songs. They also break out well known tunes like The Kesh Jig (used in Flogging Molly's Saltydog) and John Ryan's Polka (from that scene in Titanic - you know the dancing on the table one). Come prepared to sing shanties and drinking choruses - let your drink sing for you if necessary! Sassanach will have you pounding out the beat and singing along. | myspace
