Twin Ports Wind Orchestra Spring Concert

Weber Music Hall, UMD
This evening celebrates our season theme, “Dream Big or Go Home!” and honors two extraordinary individuals: Richard Carlson, a founding member of TPWO, and James Stellmaker, a legendary Minnesota music educator.
We’re thrilled to premiere Lied for Wind Band, a new commission by Mark Camphouse, written in memory of Richard Carlson. Camphouse will also conduct his 2013 work, Twin Ports Overture, which honors Jim Stellmaker and features a trombone-euphonium duet symbolizing their friendship.
The program also includes:
-
Americans We by Henry Fillmore – An energetic American march.
-
Downey Overture by Oscar Navarro – A vibrant fusion of Spanish and Latin-American influences.
-
Alte Kameraden by Carl Teike – A classic German march celebrating lifelong bonds.
-
Lookfar: Chorale for Ursula by James M. David – A reflective tribute inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin.
-
Air Mobility Command March by Mark Camphouse – A spirited tribute to the U.S. Air Force.
-
Music for a Festival by Philip Sparke – A dynamic work full of contrasts.
-
Solid Men to the Front by John Philip Sousa – A stirring Sousa march.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music, remembrance, and inspiration as we honor these “big dreamers.” See you on May 31!
